On October 18^th, 2019, in the first time of Forum of “CHEN GENG” Talent Class, we were honored to invite Hao Dong, the former vise president of Harbin Shipbuilding Engineering Institute to hold a keynote symposium on “Remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind”. We fellow the step of the elder generation of students in PLA Military Engineering Institute, review the spirit of working hard and pass the spirit from generation to generation and carry it forward.

Hao Dong, the former vise president of Harbin Shipbuilding Engineering Institute, PhD supervisior. His research interests include computer application and automatic navigation. He was studying in radar major in PLA Military Engineering Institute during 1962-1968. After graduation, he was participant in the labor training in the May Seventh Cadre School. The next ten year, he was working as a teaching assistant in Harbin Shipbuilding Engineering Institute. During 1980-1982, he was at Stanford University as a visiting scholar, dedicated to the research of Computer fault-tolerant technology. After returning to China, he worked as the director of Office of Navigation of Harbin Shipbuilding Engineering Institute and the vice president of Harbin Shipbuilding Engineering Institute, successively. He works as the director of the education department of Heilongjiang Province, the vice director of Heilongjiang Provincial People’s Congress, the member of China Association of Higher Education，the executive director and president of the 5^th concil of Heilongjiang Association of Higher Education, the vise president of Western Returned Scholars Association and the president of Heilongjiang Provincial Western Returned Scholars Association. He has published several monographs and textbooks, the paper titled Prospect for Techniques and Applications in China was read in annual meeting of Canadian Information Processing Social in 1989.

By taking the opportunity of keynote education on “Remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind”, we will strengthen our strategic confidence in school reform and development. Centering on the initial mission of  “educating people for the party and the country”, we will play the strongest voice of building a world-class university with distinctive characteristics. Through the forms of research and discussion, we will have heart-talk and in-depth exchanges, encourage the student and set the good example, increase the publicity and send positive energy to create a strong atmosphere of entrepreneurship, unity and stability.
